Health Clinic volunteer opportunity at The City on a Hill Clinic.
 The job description includes to help in a food pantry, serve meal, assist with registration and escort people to different areas based on their needs. You do not need to apply just show up to the clinic on  the second Saturday of every month and volunteers are needed from 10:00am-4:30pm. 

Los Angeles Childrens Hospital 

The job description includes  to serve as patient and family escorts, one 3-4 hour shift a week for a period of eight weeks. There are several reasons for this, all explained at orientation. After that time you may request the area within the hospital that you would like to volunteer. As part of your role as an escort you’ll be able to interact with children and families while you walk with them to their appointments. This is a great opportunity to learn about what makes our hospital and staff so special, and explore other areas of interest for future volunteering. To volunteer apply online at

Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center

From greeting  patients with a smile at the front desk to supporting our emergency services staff  and assisting patient families in the waiting rooms, our 400+ volunteers generously contribute their time, skills and talents in nearly all departments of the hospital. 

Volunteer shifts are available seven days a week from 8 AM to 8 PM. If you would like to join us as a student volunteer (ages 16-18), an adult volunteer, or be a part of the pet theraphy program, please pick up an application at the Front Desk in our main lobby. Volunteers must commit to donating a minimum of four hours a week for six months (100 hours). Please note: Individuals will not be placed in volunteer service to be trained for paid positions.

Oncologist

Duties and Responsibilities:oncology specialists are physicians trained in a variety of cancer diagnostic and treatment procedures, such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Typical oncology specialists may have as much as 15 years of advanced education and training, which includes undergraduate studies, medical school, and one or more residency training programs. Additionally, license is required to practice as a physician. The American Board of Medical Specialties certifies oncology physicians in five different specialized areas, including radiation, medical, surgical and pediatric oncology.

Salary:Oncologist: $217,856

Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree, Fulfill state license requirements; complete residency training programs and sub specialty training programs.

Reflection:  The oncologist make a lot of money.

Reflection: If you maintain a strong character and will work hard you will be successful. character is something that influences us in of our everyday lives. It is who we are when no one sees us. It's doing things out of will instead of want or helping someone because it's right and not because you were told. Character is the inner beauty that in a way only we, the individual, can fully comprehend. Our individual components make us who we are and give us the zest and excitement in all of our distinguishing characteristics. Therefore, if character can define who we are and how other people see us.

Health Educator

Health Educator

Duties and Responsibilities : Health educators teach people about behaviors that promote wellness. They develop and implement strategies to improve the health of individuals and communities. Community health workers collect data and discuss health concerns with members of specific populations or communities.

Salary:  $41,830 per year $20.11 per hour

Education : entry-level health educator positions require a bachelor’s degree in health education or health promotion. These programs teach students theories and methods of health education and help students gain the knowledge and skills they need to develop health education materials and programs. Most programs include an internship.

Some positions, such as those in the federal government or in state public health agencies, require a master’s or doctoral degree. Graduate programs are commonly in community health education, school health education, public health education, or health promotion. Entering a master’s degree program requires a bachelor’s degree, but a variety of undergraduate majors may be acceptable.

Community health workers typically have a high school diploma, although some jobs may require postsecondary education. Education programs may lead to a 1-year certificate or a 2-year associate’s degree and cover topics such as wellness, ethics, and cultural awareness, among others. Community health workers typically have a shared language or life experience and an understanding of the community that they serve.
