Student Reflection : What Abraham Lincoln meant was that he wasn't going to do wrong in order to win the election because he had a high character value. He was understanding that standing for whats is right wasn't going to get everyone in his favor, but he did not care. Abraham Lincoln stated that he was going to separate himself from those went corrupt. His main goal was not to win the election but stay true to what was right. I believe he was a great president because of his true character.

April Fools Day

• April fools takes place on April 1st of each year.  

• The purpose of April Fools day is to joke around and prank people in a funny way

• The timing of this day of pranks seems to be related to the arrival of spring, when nature "fools" mankind with fickle weather, according to the Encyclopedia of Religion and the Encyclopedia Britannica. Another theory is Pope Gregory XIII issued a papal bull decreeing a new standard calendar for Christian Europe that would take his name and centuries later become the standard internationally in the 21st century.

• The Pros of April Fools day are that people get a laugh and cheer up. Some cons are that some one may be hurt during a prank either physically or emotionally.

Reflection : What he means is that character has more true value than skill. For example the little league baseball players who cheated had a lot of intellect on playing with bad character. The team ended up losing there title because they cheated and maybe the second place team with more character ended up receiving the world championship title.

Health Sciences Librarian

Health Sciences Librarian

Duties and Responsibilities: Medical librarians provide assistance in finding medical documents. Clinical trials, medical treatments or procedures, as well as other pertinent information that applies to the medical industry are common documents sought after by these librarians.

Salary : $55,690

Education: master's degree in library science with a concentration in the health sciences, medical library or a similar training. 

Reflection: I am personally interested in the health sciences librarian field. I would not like  to study for this job. I do have a small interest in the health sciences field but not so much in the specific area of being a librarian.

Reflection: That is a great statement because it shows that hard really does pay off. I have a friend who use to box and he eventually stopped because he said he wasn't sure that he was going to go pro and i remember telling him that if he believed it was going to pay of all he had to do was work harder then the rest of his competitors.

•   Conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes
• Develop safety procedures for those working with potentially dangerous chemicals
• Develop processes to separate components of liquids and gases or to generate electrical currents using controlled chemical processes
• Design and plan the layout of equipment
• Do tests and monitor performance of processes throughout production

Reflection: What this means is that you are more free if  you do whats right. My personal experiences with this is true. When I go out without my parents permission I feel like something is wrong and i am not really comfortable. When i do ask for intermission I feel truly free and my conscious is clear from regret.

1. St.Patrick  was a 5th-century Romano-British Christian missionary and bishop in Ireland. 

2. The purpose of St. Patrick's Day is to celebrate the Roman Catholic feast day of the patron saint of Ireland.

3.St. Patrick's day is celebrated on March 17 because that is the day St. Patrick died

4. Green is associated with St. Patrick's Day because St Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.

5. On St.Patrick's Day Christians are allowed to drink alcohol.

Reflection: W hat the quote means that nothing can be truly great if it is not good. Everything that is good is truly great because nothing can be truly great if it is not right and if something is right then it is good.

Is  the short term pain worth the long term pain?

Reflection: The short term gain, at first may seem like its worth the pain. But it really isn't. Eventually you will feel bad knowing you didn't truly earn nothing because you cheated. Nothing compares to a honest win or achievement. Cheating is for losers because even if you win , you still loss because you cheated. It doesn't really matter if you get caught or not.

Health Clinic volunteer opportunity at The City on a Hill Clinic.
 The job description includes to help in a food pantry, serve meal, assist with registration and escort people to different areas based on their needs. You do not need to apply just show up to the clinic on  the second Saturday of every month and volunteers are needed from 10:00am-4:30pm. 

Los Angeles Childrens Hospital 

The job description includes  to serve as patient and family escorts, one 3-4 hour shift a week for a period of eight weeks. There are several reasons for this, all explained at orientation. After that time you may request the area within the hospital that you would like to volunteer. As part of your role as an escort you’ll be able to interact with children and families while you walk with them to their appointments. This is a great opportunity to learn about what makes our hospital and staff so special, and explore other areas of interest for future volunteering. To volunteer apply online at

Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center

From greeting  patients with a smile at the front desk to supporting our emergency services staff  and assisting patient families in the waiting rooms, our 400+ volunteers generously contribute their time, skills and talents in nearly all departments of the hospital. 

Volunteer shifts are available seven days a week from 8 AM to 8 PM. If you would like to join us as a student volunteer (ages 16-18), an adult volunteer, or be a part of the pet theraphy program, please pick up an application at the Front Desk in our main lobby. Volunteers must commit to donating a minimum of four hours a week for six months (100 hours). Please note: Individuals will not be placed in volunteer service to be trained for paid positions.

Reflection:  The quote shoes that you shouldn't cheat no matter what. The reflections also shows that you don't have to cheat to be a really good baseball player. It is also a commitment to never cheat. It also wont be a  complete success if you cheat.
